BYE, CRIKEY.

Clark woke me up with the saddest of news this morning. Our much loved Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin was killed this morning off the coast of Australia near the Barrier Reef by a Sting Ray while filming a documentary (ironically titled, "The Ocean's Deadliest").

Clark and I feel a special connection with Mr. Irwin since we have watched him from the begining when he was just a an overly-enthusiastic nut from Australia. It feels as though we have lost a member of the family (but we know all of you better and, OK, it would be worse if it really were a member of the family but we are sad, OK?)
Anyway, our thoughts and prayers really are with his family, especially his wife and two little kids.
So take a moment and remember this Aussie Crazy Man, appreciate a crocodile and maybe wear khaki today.
We love you Steve!

AMEN! Why does it feel like a family member to me too? Poor family, poor Terry and little Bindy and Bob. So sad.

So sad! But don't you think it would have been oh-so-much-more sad if he had died in a ho-hum ordinary way? Like a heart attack? Or an infected paper-cut? You can't say he didn't have it comin'. I guess we just never thought it really WOULD happen! Wasn't he invincible??!!

I thought of you yesterday when I heard the news because you introduced me to the crazy man from down under. I also felt a terrible sadness like loosing a friend. There was no one like him and no one could ever replace him. I'm so sad for his family.

It really is sad. I liked him too even though I have to admit I kind of expected him to go out like this...I just thought it would be one of those deadly snakes he was always picking up. I feel very sad for his family. I kept watching the news this morning for more info...but nothing was said.

He requested that if he died while filming, he wanted it broadcast! So the family is fighting for that wish to be granted--I think I would have to watch, and that's why I don't like that idea. On the other hand, it would be like him to want people to know that they can get hurt by these animals, etc. The friend said it was so disturbing to watch (the footage) and that he dies instantly after pulling out the barb).

I have always thought that Clark kind of looks like Steve Irwin actually. Especially when he does his Steve Irwin impersonation. Whenever I see Clark now, I am going to cry. That is, I will cry more than usual.
