Any Oscarsons Recognize This Song?

In case you need a little help:

Two little boys had two little toys,
Each was a wooden horse.
Gaily they played each summer's day,
Bold soldiers, of course.
One little lad had a mishap,
Broke off his horse's head.
Cried for his toy 'till the other sweetly said,
"Did you think I would leave you crying,
When there's room on my horse for two?
Come on, Jack, we'll soon be riding.
Off with the boys in blue.
When we grow up we will both be soldiers,
And our horses no longer toys,
And I wonder if we'll remember
When we were two little boys."
The long years had passed, the war came at last.
Boldly they rode away.
Cannons roared loud 'midst the mad crowd,
Wounded and dying Bill lay.
A horse galloped by, and a voice rang loud and clear.
"Did you think I would leave you dying,
When there's room on my horse for you?
Come on, Bill, we'll soon be riding.
Off with the boys in blue.
Now we've grown up and we've both been soldiers,
And our horses no longer toys.
And I know now that we remember
When we were two little boys."

Heart melting, eyes welling, catch in the throat, and smile on face....thanks! I can't wait to play that for Dad when he gets home. We could have total meltdown.

I just walked in the door to a sweet and familiar sound. The tradition is alive and well in Las Vegas!
Way to go, Caleb, you have both great memory (intelligence) and voice. When I hear you sing that song, I hear the sound of my own mother's voice at bedtime. Sweet, sweet memories.
THANK YOU!!
Papa

Ok send me the words. I apparently have missed out on something big here. What a performance! That was so sweet.

That was beautiful! Caleb, you are a sweet, wonderful, and smart little boy!

I think all of the grandkids know that song now. We all must have such fond memories of Dad singing it. We just can't help but pass it down. I know Amy sings it to her boys, and I do to mine. Not sure about Chip and Emily? We could have a "Two Little Boys" choral performance the next time we all get together!

Except my boys insist I substitute their names for Jack and Bill's. I'm ok with the first verse, but I always have to "mix it up" so the same son doesn't almost die night after night in my song at bedtime.

Is it weird that I'm crying and I'm not even related to that sweet little guy? That is precious. Sorry for invading your blog Oscarson's, it was Emily, she's the one who let me in...just to see pictures of the new house, but I had to go and be nosy. I promise I'm leaving now.

Abby, he is adorable! What a great memory he has.
